We are a design-build firm. What that means is that we incorporate professional design paradigms into every step of the process from conceptual ideas to final plans so that your project will fulfill your needs and dreams.

Our process includes many steps. What’s important to know about this is that every step is designed to ensure efficient and custom attention to your project needs. We put every detail in writing so that both of us have a clear understanding of expectations for the project.

We do custom work. This means that though we can do ‘cookie-cutter’ projects, we bring decades of design and construction experience with us to give your project that special touch. Custom does not necessarily mean expensive. What it does mean is that you won’t be stuck with aspects of the project that you neither want or need. The quality of finish and nature of construction, for the most part, dictates price. Simple, straight-forward design will be less expensive to build than more complex designs. Custom woodwork prices will vary, for instance, on whether you choose pine, oak, or mahogany.

We build to last generations. Quality construction methods, time-proven, using good materials and common-sense workmanship combine to produce a home that will last for many decades. This cannot be rushed. In this day and age of ‘throw-away’ mentality what a relief to know that your biggest investment will withstand the ravages of time and daily use. We do use modern technology as long as it’s accompanied by solid, time-proven construction and durability.

Quality homes and remodels begins with good design, but is quickly followed by skilled craftsman. The contractors we use are held to high standards. We supervise all installations to be sure that the end product meets or exceeds our standards.

Just as a painting’s final presentation is seen via the frame chosen to enframe it, so it is with construction. The success of your project lies in the details of the final product, the finish woodwork, the tile, the transitions, the stonework, the ceilings, the lighting, the plumbing and lighting fixtures, the texture and paint work, the landscaping, the concrete work. To coalesce all these into one, superb, dream-like product is the true skill that only years of experience can bring to your home.

At Master Builders we realize that this is a huge investment of your finances, time, and energy. It’s the result of countless hours of planning, applying for loans and, finally, the right contractor. We’ve attempted in this brief brochure to present aspects of our company that will encourage you to give us a call and set up an appointment to discuss your project.

We would like to include one more item that we believe makes for good client-contractor relationship. Humility. Yes, we bring decades of experience, but we would be amiss if we said we knew everything about residential construction. For us the key is functional humility wherein we are willing and able to admit mistakes, and correct them, when they arise. Every project, yes every one, will have mistakes committed during the project. Our expertise, we truly hope, minimizes these and corrects them quickly when they happen. Humility, in the end, is looking out for your needs before my own. We hope to have the opportunity to show you that in action.

Budget. It’s what drives the whole project. Be sure you have a realistic budget for what you want to achieve. The finances for any construction project are critical in two respects, first, a realistic total budget, and second, timely availability of the funds to keep the project on schedule. There are two aspects to the finances that we must also caution you on: first, be careful not to ‘nickel and dime’ irreversible decisions. A good example of this is windows and doors. Once these are installed, it’s a major project to change them. Second, be careful not to overspend on the tail end of the project. This is where many a budget is blown. At the same time, you will be living with your decisions; be sure your fixtures, carpets, tiles, and the like, are something you really like.
